Stratego Original is an online board game of hidden formations and probing attacks, challenging players to pierce enemy lines and claim the opposing HQ.

How to play;

In Stratego, learning the rules is only the first step; mastery comes from reading the battlefield and shaping a long-term plan of conquest. Whether you play in single player mode against the computer or face human opponents online, success relies on scouting, deception, and careful positioning.

Secret formations decide the opening. Strong units should not sit on the front line without cover. Use weaker pieces to probe enemy defenses, reveal hidden ranks, and create openings for decisive strikes. Trading small units for critical information is often worth it, but avoid bleeding your scouts dry too early.

Controlling movement corridors on the board limits the enemy’s options and buys time for larger attacks. Bombs and immobile traps can lock down key zones, forcing opponents to attack from predictable angles. Cavalry and other long-range movers excel at exploiting gaps once defenses crack.

Direct assaults can break the enemy’s formation, but reckless pushes invite counterattacks. The best advances combine feints with real threats, making the opponent waste their strongest units in bad trades. High-value pieces should strike only when the odds are clear.

Endgame strategy favors patience. When unit counts are low, every tempo matters and information becomes the most powerful resource on the board. Pushing the opponent into immobility or isolating the HQ can win even without overwhelming force.
