When the enemy ship approaches, start firing immediately. It doesn't matter how big the ships are in these seas. The real power is to take the wind at your back and be fast. Getting too close to the enemy will make you an easy target. Stay out of enemy firing range. They'll leave the powder kegs behind as they escape. This makes it dangerous to follow closely.
